Terms of Use
2A Self-Defense Law
1. Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to 2A Self-Defense Law, an independent educational website founded by Jeffrey S. Straub. This website provides articles, commentary, judicial case discussions, videos, educational resources, and other materials concerning self-defense law, the lawful use of force, firearms-related legal issues, and related subjects.
These Terms of Use establish the conditions governing access to and use of this website and its materials. By accessing or using the website, visitors agree to comply with these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. Visitors who do not agree with these terms should discontinue use of the website.
2. Educational Nature of the Website
2A Self-Defense Law is an educational publication, not a law firm or legal services provider. Jeffrey S. Straub is not an attorney.
The educational purpose, limitations, and qualifications applicable to our publications are explained in our separate Legal Disclaimer, which is incorporated into these Terms of Use by reference.
Visitors should review that disclaimer before relying upon information presented on this website. Nothing in these Terms of Use supersedes or diminishes the qualifications contained in the Legal Disclaimer.
3. Intellectual Property and Ownership
Unless otherwise identified, original written articles, commentary, educational presentations, original graphics, photographs, website design elements, logos, and other original creative materials published by 2A Self-Defense Law are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Ownership of original content remains with its respective copyright holder. Publication on this website does not transfer ownership or grant unrestricted rights to reproduce, redistribute, modify, or commercially exploit protected material.
References to statutes, judicial opinions, government publications, news reporting, third-party videos, and other external resources do not constitute claims of ownership over those materials. Their copyright status and permitted uses are governed by applicable law and the rights of their respective owners.
Nothing in these Terms of Use is intended to restrict lawful fair use, public-domain materials, or other rights provided under applicable copyright law.
4. Sharing, Quoting, and Republishing
2A Self-Defense Law encourages readers to share links to its educational articles, court decision analyses, videos, and other publicly available resources.
Readers may quote reasonable portions of original written materials with appropriate attribution, subject to applicable copyright law. Attribution should identify 2A Self-Defense Law and, where applicable, Jeffrey S. Straub as the author.
Sharing a link to an article is encouraged. Reproducing an entire article, distributing substantial portions of original content, incorporating protected materials into commercial publications, or presenting another person’s original work as one’s own may require prior written permission unless otherwise authorized by law.
Permission requests may be submitted through the website’s Contact page.
5. Acceptable Use of the Website
Visitors may access and use the website for lawful personal, educational, informational, and research purposes.
Visitors may not knowingly interfere with website operations, attempt unauthorized access to administrative systems or restricted information, introduce malicious software, circumvent security protections, or use the website to engage in unlawful activity.
Automated access, indexing, and retrieval are subject to applicable law, technical restrictions, and any published website policies. Nothing in these Terms prohibits lawful search-engine indexing, ordinary linking, or other legally protected activity.
2A Self-Defense Law reserves the right to take reasonable measures to protect the website, its infrastructure, its content, and its visitors from misuse.
6. Third-Party Websites and Embedded Materials
The website may contain links to external websites, judicial resources, government agencies, news publications, YouTube videos, legal research materials, and other third-party resources.
These resources are provided for educational, informational, or reference purposes. Their inclusion does not necessarily indicate agreement with or endorsement of the information, opinions, products, services, or practices of the third party.
External websites and services operate under their own terms, privacy practices, and content policies. 2A Self-Defense Law does not control those external services and is not responsible for their independent operation or content.
7. Communications and Submitted Information
Visitors may communicate with 2A Self-Defense Law through available contact forms or other published communication methods.
Submitting a question, suggestion, correction, or other communication does not establish an attorney-client relationship, confidential legal advisory relationship, or obligation to provide individualized assistance.
Visitors should avoid submitting sensitive personal information, confidential legal documents, or details of ongoing legal proceedings unless specifically requested through an appropriate and secure communication method.
Visitors retain their applicable ownership rights in original materials they submit. Submission does not automatically transfer copyright ownership to 2A Self-Defense Law.
Information submitted through website forms will be handled according to the applicable Privacy Policy.
8. Corrections, Updates, and Editorial Independence
2A Self-Defense Law maintains editorial independence concerning the selection, presentation, interpretation, and discussion of educational subjects.
The website may revise, correct, clarify, supplement, archive, or withdraw published materials when appropriate.
Publication of a reader’s correction, disagreement, or requested modification is not guaranteed. Editorial decisions remain within the discretion of the website’s operator, subject to applicable law.
Publication dates, revision dates, and substantive legal review dates may be maintained separately. A technical or editorial modification does not necessarily indicate that the legal analysis has been substantively reviewed.
The separate Legal Disclaimer provides additional information concerning historical publications, changes in the law, and limitations on the continuing accuracy of educational materials.
9. Website Availability and Modifications
2A Self-Defense Law may modify the website’s design, navigation, content organization, educational offerings, and available features without guaranteeing continuous availability of any particular resource.
Reasonable efforts may be made to maintain reliable access, but uninterrupted operation, error-free functionality, and permanent availability of individual publications are not guaranteed.
Website maintenance, technical difficulties, security concerns, or other circumstances may temporarily or permanently affect access to particular features or materials.
10. Educational Products and Future Services
2A Self-Defense Law may offer educational courses, publications, downloadable resources, presentations, or other products in the future.
Unless separate purchase terms are expressly provided and accepted, these Terms of Use do not establish payment obligations, subscription commitments, refund conditions, or cancellation policies.
Any future commercial offerings may be governed by additional terms disclosed in connection with those offerings.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
The website and its available materials are provided on an “as available” basis without guarantees of uninterrupted access, technical performance, or freedom from errors.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, 2A Self-Defense Law disclaims warranties concerning website operation and limits responsibility for losses resulting from technical interruptions, unauthorized misuse, or reliance upon website materials.
The separate Legal Disclaimer addresses limitations specifically associated with educational information, legal commentary, and the application of legal principles to individual circumstances.
Nothing in these Terms of Use excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
12. Privacy
Information collected through the website, including information submitted through contact forms and information generated through applicable website technologies, is governed by the separately published Privacy Policy.
Visitors are encouraged to review that policy to understand the website’s disclosed information practices.
13. Governing Law
These Terms of Use are intended to be interpreted under the laws of the State of Minnesota, United States, to the extent consistent with applicable federal law and other mandatory legal requirements.
Nothing in this provision is intended to eliminate rights or protections that cannot lawfully be waived.
14. Changes to These Terms
2A Self-Defense Law reserves the right to revise these Terms of Use to reflect changes in website operations, applicable legal requirements, educational offerings, or other relevant circumstances.
Revised terms will be made available on this page with an updated revision date. Material changes may be communicated through additional website notices when appropriate.
Changes will apply prospectively from their stated effective date, except where otherwise required or permitted by applicable law.
15. Contact
