2A Self-Defense Law
1. Introduction
2A Self-Defense Law respects the privacy of visitors to 2aselfdefenselaw.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, where it is stored, which outside services may process it, and how visitors may request removal of their personal information.
2A Self-Defense Law is an independent educational website founded by Jeffrey S. Straub. We collect limited information necessary to operate the website, respond to communications, maintain newsletter subscription records, and protect website security.
We do not sell visitors’ personal information, use advertising trackers, or operate a behavioral advertising program.
2. Information We Collect
Contact Form Submissions
When visitors submit a message through our Contact page, we collect their name, email address, selected topic, message content, and submission timestamp.
This information is stored in the website’s database and made available to authorized administrators for responding to inquiries and managing communications.
The contact form does not store visitors’ IP addresses or additional identifying metadata in its submission records. Separate hosting and security services may process technical connection information as described below.
Newsletter Subscriptions
Visitors who voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter provide an email address. We also record the subscription timestamp, the page where the subscription originated, and the consent statement accepted when subscribing.
These records allow us to document subscription consent and manage future educational communications.
At the time of this policy’s preparation, no external newsletter delivery service is connected, and newsletters are not being distributed.
If newsletter distribution begins, subscription information may be processed by an email delivery provider. We will update this policy as appropriate before introducing such services.
Visitor Accounts
The website does not provide public visitor accounts. Only authorized website administrators have administrative sign-in access.
3. How We Use Information
Personal information submitted voluntarily through the website is used to respond to inquiries, maintain communication records, document newsletter consent, manage subscription preferences, process information removal requests, and administer website operations.
Technical information processed by hosting and security providers may also be used to maintain website functionality, detect abusive traffic, and protect the website against unauthorized activity.
We do not use contact form submissions or newsletter records for unrelated advertising or sell those records to third parties.
4. Cookies and Website Technologies
The website uses limited cookies necessary for hosting operations and automated traffic protection.
A technical audit identified two necessary cookies associated with the hosting infrastructure and bot protection services.
The website does not currently use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, behavioral advertising trackers, or tracking cookies operated for advertising purposes.
Cookies and similar technologies used by third-party services may be subject to those providers’ policies.
Visitors may manage cookies through their browser settings, although disabling necessary cookies may affect website functionality or security verification.
5. Hosting and Third-Party Processing
Hosting and Database Services
The website and its database operate using Lovable Cloud and associated hosting infrastructure. These services process information necessary to operate the website and store submitted records.
Cloudflare Security Services
Cloudflare provides bot protection and related infrastructure services. In connection with those functions, Cloudflare may process technical information such as IP addresses, request details, and security-related information.
Google Fonts
The website loads fonts through Google Fonts. When a visitor’s browser requests those fonts, Google may receive technical connection information, including the visitor’s IP address.
YouTube Videos
The website may display embedded YouTube videos using privacy-enhanced embedding.
Technical testing confirmed that an article containing a video did not contact YouTube during its initial page load. However, video playback and other interactions were not fully tested.
When a visitor interacts with or plays an embedded video, YouTube may process technical information or use cookies and similar technologies under Google’s applicable privacy policies.
We do not control the independent data-processing practices of these external providers.
6. Information Security
We use administrative authentication and database access controls intended to prevent unauthorized access to private visitor information.
Technical testing confirmed that ordinary unauthenticated visitors could not retrieve contact messages, newsletter subscriptions, information removal requests, or administrative editing records through the tested access methods.
These safeguards are intended to protect personal information against unauthorized access and disclosure.
However, no internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security. Website infrastructure, administrative systems, and security practices may be updated as necessary to address identified risks.
To help protect the website against automated misuse, we apply submission limits to public contact, newsletter, and information removal forms. These limits are enforced through the website’s existing database infrastructure and do not require us to collect or store visitors’ IP addresses for rate-limiting purposes.
7. Information Retention
Contact messages, newsletter subscriptions, and related records are retained until they are no longer needed for their intended purpose or until an appropriate removal request is processed, subject to applicable legal, operational, and security requirements.
The website does not currently operate an automatic deletion schedule for these records.
Deletion from the primary database may not immediately eliminate information retained in system backups, service logs, or other infrastructure records maintained by hosting or security providers.
Such copies may remain temporarily according to the applicable provider’s retention practices.
We do not represent that deletion from the primary database guarantees immediate deletion from every backup or external system.
8. Requests to Access, Correct, or Remove Information
Visitors may contact 2A Self-Defense Law to request information about personal records associated with their email address, request correction of inaccurate information, or request removal of eligible records.
The website provides a removal-request form through its Privacy Policy page.
Submitting a removal request does not automatically delete information. Requests are held for administrative review.
To protect personal information, we may require reasonable verification that the person making the request owns or is authorized to act on behalf of the email address or information involved.
Information will not be disclosed or deleted solely because an unverified individual enters an email address into the request form.
Once a request is appropriately verified, we will review and process it in accordance with applicable law and legitimate retention requirements.
Certain information may need to be retained when required by law, necessary to maintain security, or otherwise permitted under applicable legal obligations.
When an administrator processes a verified information removal request, the website maintains a restricted administrative audit record documenting the date and time of the action, the administrator responsible, confirmation that verification was performed, the outcome, and a reference number. This record does not contain the requester’s email address, deleted messages, or copies of removed personal information. Audit records are retained for administrative accountability and are not subject to an automatic deletion schedule.

9. Newsletter Consent and Unsubscribing
Newsletter subscriptions are voluntary.
Subscription records include the consent statement accepted when the visitor subscribed.
Although newsletter distribution is not currently active, any future newsletter service will provide an appropriate method for withdrawing consent and unsubscribing from future communications.
Visitors may also request removal of their subscription information through the website’s available privacy contact procedures.
10. External Websites and Links
2A Self-Defense Law may provide links to government websites, court decisions, legal research resources, news organizations, educational videos, and other external websites.
These external services operate independently and may maintain their own privacy policies, cookies, and information collection practices.
We encourage visitors to review the privacy policies of external websites before providing personal information.
11. Children’s Privacy
The website provides general educational information concerning self-defense law and related legal subjects. It is not designed to solicit personal information from children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through our contact or newsletter systems.
If we become aware that such information has been collected, we will take appropriate steps to address it, including deletion where required by applicable law.
Parents or guardians may contact us through the website’s Contact page regarding privacy concerns involving a child.
12. Privacy Rights and Applicable Law
Visitors may have rights concerning access, correction, deletion, or other handling of personal information under laws applicable to their circumstances.
The availability and scope of those rights may depend on the visitor’s jurisdiction and the applicability of particular privacy laws.
2A Self-Defense Law will evaluate privacy requests according to applicable legal requirements and the information reasonably available to verify and process the request.
Nothing in this policy is intended to waive privacy rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in website functionality, information collection, third-party services, security practices, or applicable legal requirements.
Material changes to our data practices will be reflected in an updated version of this policy, with additional notice when required by applicable law.
The current version will remain accessible through the website’s Privacy Policy page.
